Our brief

Inteforge was selected as the sole supplier for the Wiggins Island Export Terminal’s wharf and jetty, and was awarded a concurrent contract for the supply and delivery of the stockyard steelwork to the same facility. Our scope included detail drafting, supply, manufacture and delivery of marine piles, headstocks, wharf and jetty modules, fully assembled conveyor modules, stockyard steelwork and two stacker bridges.

The project site presented several logistical challenges to be overcome, including the delivery of oversized modules in a challenging marine environment.

The solution

Stick steel and modules were fabricated and assembled in both China and Malaysia and delivered to the site in Queensland. A purpose-built ocean-going barge was specifically designed and built for the operation to transport two stacker bridges at 125 metres long and weighing 500 tonnes — the largest ever single pieces to be delivered into Gladstone.

Our innovative logistics solutions delivered close to 40,000 tonnes during the construction of the wharf, jetty and stockyard. Inteforge managed all heavy lift, self-propelled modular transporter (SPMT) movements and barge operations.
